Uttarakhand – India

After visiting some romantic places in Himachal Pradesh and having lassi in the Punjab, my train’s next destination was Uttrakhand. The Uttrakhand is mainly known for its Hindu pilgrimage. Uttarakhand is one of the spiritual places. It hosts the Ganga’s Arti in the evening and Rishikesh has one of the major yoga study centre. So let’s come to our useful things else I would have a story here but I have to control. So the places where you can go are following.

  • Dehradun

Dehradun was at the top of my list of places in Uttarakhand because it is must visit place of the Uttarakhand. Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand and it is situated at Himalayan foothills. This place is mainly famous for the hill station, landscape and nice views. Here you can visit few of cool places including – Sahastradhara if you love the waterfall, Tiger Falls, Tapkeshwar Temple, and few more temples as well and of course Tapovan, one of the most loved but go to this only if you want to visit a temple.

While you are in the Dehradun so you can make it possible to visit Mussoorie because it’s also one of the most loved places in the India. Mussoorie is just 35km away from the Dehradun city. It is also known as ‘Queen of Hills’. It’s mostly loved by honeymooners but you can make the visit because there is not written something like this. Best time would be the whole year expect mansoon. You can reach to the Mussoorie via bus or any other road vehicle because it does not have any airport.

  • Nainital

As I told you in the starting that Uttarakhand is mainly known for Spirituality. Nainital is also most loved places because of its lakes, It is located near Naini lake and surrounded by Mountains on all sides. Here you will be able to see the lush greenery and you can also go for trekking if you are not tired yet else it would be tough for you to visit next places. Best time to visit this place is from April to June. Nainital also does not have any nearest airport to reach and the nearest railway station is Kathgodham on 34km distance. There are not many things to do in Nainital so I kept my trip in a limited way that is, I headed to the Rishikesh after spending few hours at Naini Lake and Ranikhet but you can extend it to the Nainital Zoo to enjoy the wildlife.

  • Rishikesh and Haridwar

Rishikesh is known as the adventure capital and Haridwar as pilgrim capital of the Uttarakhand. Yeah, I understand how you are feeling that after hearing the multiple names of a city. How bullshit they were who kept these names. By the way instead of pointing them let’s continue our trip and enjoy here only.

In Rishikesh, you should not miss the river rafting because it’s the most popular thing to experience in the Rishikesh. Best time to visit Rishikesh is from February to May and September to November. Other things you should try are – Bungee Jumping,  Camping and Bonfire, Mountain Biking, Flying Fox, Clif Jumping, Body Surfing, Trekking, Rappelling and rock climbing, Kayaking, Parasailing and paragliding and of course Ayurvedic Massage and therapies.

While in Haridwar, you can make your visit to the Har Ki Pauri Ghat, Temple Hoping and must attend the Ganga Arti.

  • Chamoli

Yeah, most of you do not know about this place even I didn’t about Chamoli, I heard it for the first time. It is also known as ‘Adobe of Gods’. Here you will be able to experience its shrines and connections with Hindu mythology. It is well known because of Chipko Movement. You can visit this place across the year except for high mansoon. You must make a visit to this place if you are photographer and adventure junkie.

  • Binsar

I know you are also not aware of this place but it’s also well-known place because of majestic views of Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, Kedarnath and Chaukhambha. Best time to visit this place is summer months and October to November.

  • Jim Corbett

I think you visited this places remotely many times before this remote trip, I mean you had been through too many movie scenes. That means it is one of the famous places to explore wildlife and wildlife will not fail to amuse you. Mainly known as Haley’s National Park where you will be able to see the Bengal Tigers and this park has more than 500 species birds, 500 plus animals and 450 plus plants and trees. Through the zeep sawaree you can visit this park else you will become the food of Bangal Tigers. You may try if you really want to be a great dish for Bangal Tiger.

  • Almora

It is also a small town of the Uttarakhand which is located in between the mountains. You can make your visit to this place in the summer to escape the heat. Your loved one would be happy if you both go together because of its beauty and mountain views.

  • Auli

One of the best place to make a visit in the winter. It offers panoramic views of the Himalayas. It is also one of the must visit places of the Uttarakhand.

  • Pithoragarh

It has the quaint atmosphere and you will be able to experience peace here.

  • Munsiyari

I hope you heard about this if you are a biker. It offers you the snow-capped Himalayas. This is the place where trekking activities take place. In between July to November you can make your visit to enjoy the sunset from the viewpoint at Panchchuli Peak.

Here are few more great places in the Uttarakhand including – Chakrata, Chopta, Lansdowne, Valley of flowers and Hemkund Saheb.

And of course Chardham including – Yamnotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Visit these places if you want to experience the diverse spiritual essence of the India.

Cool, so this was all about my trip to the Uttarakhand and I hope you enjoyed it too with me.

So, my next destination is Uttar Pradesh! #remoteTravellingByRaj
